Trans-Europe Café
Situated
in Merchant City ‘Trans-Europe Café’ is a charming little spot. The friendly
staff greet you with a smile as soon as you enter creating a relaxed atmosphere
that makes every customer feel welcome and as if they had visited many times
before (and when you go once I can guarantee this will become true).

Funky,
yet also relaxed, the music adds to the retro and international vibes. Who
doesn’t enjoy a little bit of reggae to pick them up during their lunch break?
My
favourite thing about Trans-Europe Café has to be their menu. To tie in with the
name and the maps on the walls every sandwich is named after a different
European city. Even if I don’t actually know where half the places are (this is
more my lack of geography knowledge rather than any obscure cities actually
being used). These names add a little something extra to your typical lunch stop
as well as keeping the theme present in all aspects of the café.
Although
the brunch looked incredible I opted for a salmon and cream cheese bagel AKA
the ‘Biarritz’. This was served with a small side salad, coleslaw and crisps.
It wasn’t award winning but was still great food and exactly what I needed to
keep me going between lectures.
Most
items on the menu were priced between £6 and £9 so not the cheapest but that
doesn’t stop the large amount of students who keep the café busy with their
chatter. Maybe they also needed the strong coffee to keep them awake.
Trans-Europe
Café was a wonderful spot for lunch and I am sure that I will be returning
again soon.

Looking forward to your next cafe recommendation
ReplyDeleteYou can't beat a good bagel! But is the cafe dog friendly?
